Visit Pour on Roy for Wine and More
By Carrie Steinweg published August 29, 2023
If you’re looking for a place to relax for a bit with a glass of wine and some light bites, make your way to Pour on Roy in Lansing. Owned by a group of siblings and their significant others, this cozy spot has alluring decor, little nooks to escape into, friendly staff, a nice wine selection, beer offerings and a menu of fun shareables.
The wine bar opened in April 2021 just off of Ridge Road, the main corridor through the downtown Lansing business district. It’s also just around the corner from the Fox Pointe concert venue and is a popular spot for a pre-show drink before one of the Wednesday or Friday night concerts.
You’ll usually find about 30 wines on their list at a time and they come from all over. “We’ve got a little bit of everywhere,” said owner Amy Todd. “Some are from Napa and Washington. Some from Italy, Germany, Spain.” They also like to feature local places and carry some sweet wines from Lynfred Winery in Illinois. Craft beers are from local places like Evil Horse Brewery in Crete and One Trick Pony in Lansing.
Aside from the selection of wines, they also do some fun wine infusions. The watermelon basil infusion and white sangria have been popular this summer. Their house wines are named after their parents - the Lawrence Charles Red and the Ashton White. “We’re family run and we wanted to incorporate some of our family into the bar,” said Todd.
Some of what they carry is what has fared well on Lansing’s Wine Walk. At the twice-yearly event of the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce, Pour of Roy provides beverages for each of the stops.
The food menu includes several flatbreads, a tomato bread, cheeseball, soft pretzel and a cheese and salami snack plate. Flatbread varieties include a classic Margherita Flatbread of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh basil with balsamic; a Chicken Alfredo Flatbread with chicken breast, garlic Alfredo sauce and three cheeses; and the Meatball Flatbread that is topped with Italian meatballs, green pepper, onion and mozzarella and parmesan cheeses.
One nice feature of visiting Pour on Roy is that you can take your bottles to go, so if you buy a bottle and don’t finish, they can seal it to go.
With Tuesday through Saturday hours, the venue is available on Sundays and Mondays for private events like baby or bridal showers, birthday parties or fundraising events. They allow for catering to be brought in, but beverage must be purchased.
Pour on Roy is open Tuesday - Thursday from 12 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
